ABOUT

Laura de Carteret is an artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, whose practice spans jewellery, objects, sculpture and installation. Their practice explores the meanings we attach to material things through attention, use, ritual and belief.

Working in the traditions of glassblowing and metalsmithing, Laura is drawn to the malleable yet stubborn nature of these materials, balancing technical precision with surrender as the work takes shape. The resulting works occupy an uncertain space between relic, specimen and artefact.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from RMIT University, receiving the Gold & Silversmithing Studio Award in 2024. They have exhibited at Craft Victoria, Stanley Street Gallery and West End Space.
